How to count lines of code in a GitHub repository

1. Paste the exact public repository URL

Use https://github.com/owner/repository. SourceTally does not accept private repositories, tokens, branch selectors, query strings or profile URLs.

2. Analyze one pinned snapshot

The browser resolves the default branch, pins its current commit and reads the recursive file tree. Raw text files then stream directly from GitHub to your browser.

3. Read a reproducible line report

The report shows physical, non-empty and blank lines, files and text bytes by detected language and extension, plus the pinned commit used for the result.

What the result does not claim

This is a working-tree snapshot, not Git history or logical SLOC. Dependencies, build output, binaries, minified files and source maps are excluded by default; GitHub API and tree limits can prevent very large repositories from completing.
